Delta Airlines are set to introduce “first biometric terminal in the U.S.”

This biometric option will be available only for those passengers who are checking in at Atlanta on Delta partner airlines Aeromexico, Air France-KLM or Virgin Atlantic, for nonstop flights to an international destination.

As per the update, this technique will fully roll out to the terminal “later this year”, though it will be “optional”. If passengers don’t want to participate then they can move on normally through the airport as they generally do, said by the Delta Airline.

The carrier further add in their statement that they are equipping the Atlanta Airport’s international terminal with face- scanning technology that will allow international passengers to use facial recognition technology “from the entrance to the gate”

How to use!

Customer must enter their passport information during online check-in (or at the airport, after a passport scan and verification). Next, passenger can click “look” when they check-in at one of the Delta automated kiosks.  Then customers will have the same options as they “approach the camera at the counter in the lobby, the TSA checkpoint or when boarding at the gate”.

“The biometric technique throughout the airport environment represents the next generation of security identification technology,” TSA Administrator David Pekosake further adds that “TSA is committed to working with great partners like Delta, ATL and CBP for advancement like these”
