The Hawaii Department of Transportation has announced that the passengers and guests at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport can now access free unlimited Wi-Fi services through Boingo Wireless.
- Throughout the entire Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, including in Terminals 1 and 2, this new Wi-Fi area will extend.
- When Guests are at the airport through the use of Passpoint, which is a next-generation hotspot technology, can access the Wi-Fi service automatically.
- In order to use free Wi-Fi facility, Users no need to key in passwords or log-ins.
- The airport is providing the access to the system for free.
Over 1.5 million people have connected to the system since the airport first implemented free Wi-Fi at the airport in end 2017. The airport has significantly improved the service by bringing in Boingo with their high-density Wi-Fi network technology only within 6 months after initiating the service. Anywhere on the premises at the airport, passengers will have quick and easy access to the Internet.
Travelers who use the free service may be subject to advertisements. But for a one-day or monthly subscription to Boingo, the airport has stated that those who do not want the interruptions of advertising can opt. The subscription will allow unlimited and uninterrupted access to the Internet.
The airport has also enhanced its cell signal in addition to the increased power of the Wi-Fi system. The airport is able to increase cell reception for all carriers through newer technologies. With a seamless experience, this will provide passengers and guests at the airport when it comes to their personal devices.
The department also said that these technologies will be installed at airports in Kahului, Lihue, Hilo, and Kailua-Kona this year though no exact dates have been given for when they would be ready.
