More Airports Offering Video Games Help Travelers To Pass Time!

Airports now offer everything from lounges, nail salons, restaurants, bars and even meditation rooms. Luckily for gamers, there is another time killer available. Some airports around the country are starting to offer video games to passengers who don’t want to sit in a lounge or throw back a few cocktails.

  • In June, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport opened gaming lounges at Terminals B and Terminal E.
  • For an all-day pass, visitors can get their gaming on while waiting for their flight.
  • Gamers can enjoy a more intimate experience at both Terminal B and E.
  • Travelers get to relax in a leather chair, enjoy a 43-inch television and block out noise with noise-canceling headphones.
  • Travelers at New York’s JFK Terminal 4 have been enjoying a virtual-reality ‘experience center’ this summer.
  • At one of 12 virtual-reality stations, travelers can enjoy games such as Fruit Ninja VR and Beat Saber.
  • Around 750 travelers a day stop by and enjoy the experience.
  • PeriscapeVR, the Los Angeles-based company that installed the virtual-reality stations, claims that many airports are interested in having their own stations installed.

Millennials are more likely to be gamers, and many who travel through airports have no interest in luxurious lounges or expensive restaurants. For those who don’t play games but still want to pass the time, there are other options. At Portland International Airport Concourse C, flyers can enjoy a high-tech microcinema, where ticketed passengers can drop in and watch a movie, free of charge.

With so much interest in gaming and virtual reality, other major airports around the country are likely to soon follow suit and offer more of an experience to the growing number of travelers.
